South Easter Info
The South Easter, or better known as the Cape Doctor, blows mainly during the summer months and makes its first appearance during early spring during the months of August and September and usually lasts until late Summer and early autumn during the months of March and April. Coastal Lows
A coastal low is a shallow low pressure system limited to the lower layers of the atmosphere and is formed when the wind blows from theland TO the sea, usually during bergwinds.

Bergwind Info
Bergwind is the South African name for fohn wind or mountain wind. It is a hot, dry wind that blows from the interior of South Africa to the coast and usually is blustery.

Winter rainfall differences around CT
Rainfall around the Cape Peninsula and the Boland varies greatly in space. Newlands is one of the wettest suburbs in the country with an annual rainfall of well over 2000mm (80 inches) while only 30km (18mi) away within view the Cape Flats (Airport) only receives about 550mm (22 inches). So what causes these great differences in the rainfall?
